Dysphoric Highway (Chapter 3)

I must admit this is an enjoyable task, we’ve never stopped talking and every now and then, we make a strategic parking in order to taste a little bit more of each other. The weather, the traffic, everything seems to be almost as perfect as her looks, and there are just 2 hours left to get to the final destination.

I’m just savoring the moment and appreciating all my surroundings as a whole, my floating body, the peaceful landscape, her presence. It is entertaining to hear her voice with all her tones and rhythms, yet I hardly understand anything, her comments fly in peaceful waves that enter my ears as harmonious reverberations, her words are just a sensorial experience and the message finds it difficult to get into my sedated body.

I just hear some lost frequencies from  her tonalities telling about her father being a  powerful businessman, that he had  something useful for the capo and bla bla bla, the same story of every action movie, I guess life imitates art after all. Something curious is that she is surprised daddy wanted to save her, the famous case of the parent that doesn’t know he has a child.

Then I hear a phrase that wakes up my attention. While she caress my leg and lays her temple in my shoulder, she suggests we should run away, leave the country and live our own adventure, she is tired of her dull life and the only motivation her father had to rescue her  was that they were “family” and he would look like a madman with his friends if he remained immobile.

I kiss her forehead and tell her that I need to finish the job. She kisses my arm and accommodates to subsequently fall asleep.

My skeleton drives in automatic, until after 1 hour plus x minutes I finally park in this lonely street just in front of Mendez’s guys truck to deliver the order, it was a nice adventure, I get out of the car to say hi before finishing the transaction.

– We heard you had some problems with a squealer, Mendez send his apologies and wanted you to know that he’s been taken care of, we are content you could do the job and your money must be already in your account –

After hearing this, I point to the copilot seat and ask them to get their prize, two men proceed to open the door and take Gina who wakes up obstreperously and reacts struggling, weeping and screaming, asking me what is happening, why am I doing this, I cannot give an answer, my mind doesn’t go beyond my instincts, my head is just marking with an “x” a job done. Nonetheless, those eyes, that look full of panic, of desperation, the sense of treason filling her pupils freezes my body during every second she’s being dragged until they finally get her into the truck.

Gets stranger and stranger. You’ll have to expand this story into something longer. This is the basis.
